What I've been playing.. Skyrim

I've been playing Skyrim lately. A lot of Skyrim. I got sick one day and punched in 8 hours worth. Not impressive considering I've read it's taken people 94 hours worth to finish it. Side quests and all. I am no where near finishing it.. but here's what I've been doing instead of quests anyway..

It's a mixture of the Happy mushrooms from Fantasia dance and the jig Bruce Willis does in The Last Boyscout.

I'm really interested in this game and am just about to watch the other teaser trailers for it I found on the offical website. It seems part survival part horror but in a good mix. Not a too in-your-face zombie/mutant game but focusing on developing a bond with the characters that you play as for once (looking at you Dead Island). It will be a game I'll be preordering that's for sure.

Yes, I'm rather addicted to zombie-ish games.

Budget Halloween ideas

This year I really wanted to celebrate Halloween properly. This year I'm at my boyfriend's house so decorating will be on a budget as to ease him into the idea of Halloween. So I started out with the average bats, spiders and cardboard cut out skeletons and then I found GARDEN GNOMES (which I love) and came up with the idea of ZOMBIFYING them (I love zombies too).

They're utterly disgusting and bloodtastic. They cost $8 each and I used black and red paint for blood. Nothing more but a few foam letters for the 'brains' sign. Less than $10 each! I don't think I'll put them in the front yard.. haha.

I've been playing Batman: Arkham City since I got it yesterday. It's a great game but to begin with.. this is all I was doing while I was playing:

I realized, while popping them, that they're actually a part of one of Riddler's mini side missions

Head lice hate!

Headlice. It's enough to make you itch. No seriously. If you're a Mum then you're already itching your head furiously by the mere mention of the bastards.

My 7 year old daughter has come home with headlice. It's not a surprise. School holidays are over and the school is ripe with head crabs. I mean headbugs.

I'm rather over them to be honest. Every time my daughter gets them it means my 3 year old boy will aget them and then I'll get them and then it's CODE RED and everyone and everything needs to be washed, combed and CHEMICALLY TREATED LIKE IT'S A MAJOR DISEASE.

Phew. Luckily I've got a system. Treat everyone's hair, shave Master 3's hair shorter, wash all the bed linen and go to boyfriend's house for 2 days to destress. It hasn't worked successfully yet but you have to keep doing it.

Forget zombies. Headlice should be in a game. They never truly die and their numbers can be almost as persistent and annoying as a flock of hungry seagulls when you have a bucket of chips. That's pretty dangerous in my book.

I really wish there was another way to deal with the buggers! Cue gamer daydream... PEW PEW!

Deodorant or Perfume?

This is going to be my attempt to blog properly.

My first deodorant love was Impulse's vanilla kisses. The original one back in 1996 which I'm sure was tested on animals (so was the rumor) and smelt like freshly baked sweet cupcakes. I loved that smell and loved people commenting that I smelt nice. I don't think it's available anymore and I refused to buy the Australis (vanilla dream?) version that smells like a toxic baking accident rather than anything sweet. I mean, who wants to sweat and have people comment that I smell like I've been soaking in alcoholic cake? Actually that sounds like a good idea.

The problem with deodorant as you get older is that it isn't enough. It stops you sweating for a few hours but it no longer seems to make you smell nice. Now there are school boys with Lynx that smells like an old homeless man burped into an old sock and girls perfume that honestly does make them smell like "baby prostitutes" (aka Mean Girls).

Also the whole 'extremely flammable' warning in captials is a bit scary..

I now have ventured into the world of perfume. My favourite being Vanilla from The Body shop. After a few hours it's a cross between those coconut Bounty bars and the old school Milk bottle lollies. It's delicious. It doesn't last long though. I also have milk and honey bodywash and apple pie smelling shampoo. Are you seeing a theme here?

Share your deodorant horror stories with me. Surely I wasn't the only girl who made flame throwers from the last of my deodorant as a kid.

Anyone who truly knows me knows that I can't resist donuts. Especially sprinkle ones. Possibly why I've put on weight. Actually no, scratch that. The reason I've put on weight is because I won a years supply of donuts from Krispy Kreme. You can see my entry on my blog post here.

The NEW Paper Scrissors Rock

My 7 year old geeky daughter and I started this game on the plane coming from Hobart to Melbourne. It's like Paper, Scrissors, Rock but you make up your object or person to choose for battle. We came up with some real classics but these were my top ones that we ended up arguing over.

To which I agree because The Hulk can't breathe under water right?

I don't know how my daughter knows that Superman sucks against magic but somehow Unicorns defeat anything.

No she didn't say the F word but Fairies are another thing that seem to beat anything I throw at them. Even Volcanoes, acid rain or other fairies on steroids.

Also I found if I put something in that Miss 7 didn't know about (eg: The Green Lantern and his ability to imagine anything and make it) then it didn't count. I think this game came down to the classic Big Daddy scene where the child made up a game called "I win" because the only rules seem to be that the child wins. I plan on using things like God, Buddha and Santa Claus next time we play.

LA Noire mini review

First off let me just write that I did start off liking this game. I thought the facial animation and new spin on the Rockstar's line of games was great. It just gets repetitive and well.. you can tell from the below images why I started hating it.

The stupid clues: This was one actual scene I came across. The choice of looking at a fork or a spoon in a kitchen as clues. I didn't bother.. I'm sure you wouldn't either. I see you've played knifey spoony before.

Driving everywhere: I know you can make your partner drive but when did the 40s get teleporting or GPS anyway? I also figure any street crime that was happening atleast a 30 minute drive away was going to be over by the time I got there.

Every person running from you: FOR FUDGE SAKE! I wanted to shoot anyone who ran. I'd make a good cop. Especially the derpy guys who you knew had nothing to do with it. There isn't even an option to shoot them in the leg. I tried.

The obvious killer: OK so the Lipstick killer wasn't exactly obvious but you do start to realize a pattern and want to track the killer down on your own. Stupid clues.

The amount of clotheslines Phelps takes: You'd think with his Army training he would learn from his BLOODY MISTAKES! Rage. Or do some cool slide and then take the guy down.

There were other things that were starting to piss me off about the game and making me want to play less. Things like pathetic interviews where you can't prove the person is lying but you know they are by obvious eye twitches or smirks. Also how many characters are in the game but none you really get attached to.

So don't look at the below picture if you think I might spoil the movie for you. I'm not giving the whole storyline away but the similarities to the first one are just too obvious to ignore. There was no "Hey let's make it so they don't find the guy" or "let's add MORE penis jokes". I don't even see why the Doug character was in it.

I went to see The Hangover 2 today. I liked the first one and even though I laughed at the second I couldn't help but feel like I had pretty much watched the first movie again but in a different city with slightly different scenes. It's still funny in parts so go see it. The end photos always make me laugh the most.

Target Art competition

I just entered the above into the TargART competition that is being running by Target. They wanted a grey/white/red/black urbanish design that is edgy yet has a boutique feel to it and will suit the front of their store in Chapel Street, Melbourne (funky town as I call it). So here is my take on a Chapel St style design. Graffiti like street art, female shopping, cityscape, landmark Chapel St stores.

I'm excited as it's the first time in a long time that I've entered a public art competition. I'm not overly confident in my, I guess, skill but figured why not enter and see. My Mum got quite excited when I told her. She knows I like my art and love to draw and wants to see me pursue that field.

I'll have to get everyone on Twitter and Facebook to vote for me as one of the entries already has 116 votes. Damn.

Today I came across the above Steampunked Nerf Maverick gun from Old Junkyard Boutique. I want it. I want the whole Steampunk look. Victorianesque dress/corset.. spats.. leather boots.. select pieces of jewellery that scream Steampunk/industrial punk.

I'm not letting go of my kawaii Lolita side but Steampunk is so me. I'm an inventor at heart and could see myself in 1800s garb, googles and working on a steam powered robot.

My friend Kim over at Pop-Couture is holding a 'Dress up' competition so that you could possibly win a $100 Westfields voucher to put forward to a dress (want!) so I decided to enter finally tonight.

I decided on Veronica Mars because I finished season one, which funnily enough Kim lent me, over the weekend and am addicted. Got to love a girl who is bad ass AND cute. My final entry used a Manhattan Trench dress I found on the Westfields website and Polyvore.. with a few added Veronica esque touches.

I hate the con artist seagull that pretends to have one leg so that you feel sympathy for him and shoo the other birds away just so you can feed him a chip. Oh even more hate when he gobbles that chip down and then puts his leg down as if to say "Haha sucker! I have TWO LEGS!". And promptly flies away.

It's bad enough that they squawk and fight over your chips but the least they could do is be honest about it. You don't have to lie Mr Seagull! I was going to offer you tasty bbq shapes too but forget it. Oh you can fly? Whoopdie doo! I could fly if I wanted to but I don't wanna.

I think it's time I finally finished Red Dead Redemption. Both the single player and the Undead Nightmare version. I keep letting life get in the way of my gaming.

How have I been lately? Not bad today. I should really be posting a May the 4th tribute but I'm in no mood for Star Wars *gasp* yes. I almost forgot it was today. I didn't bake something geeky for it. I didn't watch the movies. I didn't even cuddle my Yoda toy. How dare I!

Dramas are best left on TV where I don't watch them and am not involved with them in any way.

So I've left Twitter. Yes, for the 5th time. I won't go back. I just can't go back. It took up a lot of my time. I talked to everyone who would @ reply me and I found myself being absorbed by it's power.

I think it's best I part ways with it for now and just calm down to sort my life out. Then return with tweets about bacon, cupcakes and gaming.

So this is what I want to wear to the upcoming 29th of April Teenage Dream tour for Katy Perry. A concert. Yes. I haven't been to one in years and really treated myself to going. OK my brother treated me but only because he's a clueless male who has no idea what to buy anyone for Christmases and a ticket to go was my Christmas present for last year.

The dress is already bought. I was tired of sulking that I wouldn't be able to find one and found that one on Tragic Beauty for $70 *super happy* means more money for going out. It's also really cute and light blue is a really good colour on me. Not sure on the cardigan colour to go with it. I thought of red but would that go over board on the red and wash out the lovely lightblue?

As for everything else. I'm really undecided on the shoes. I need flats because if I wear heels and I dance at the concert I'm going to A) look super tall above the crowd, which is a good thing I guess or B) KILL MYSELF BY BREAKING MY ANKLES ... so no heels. Flats. Cute ones. Sequinned gorgeous ones that remind me of ruby slippers.

I also have no idea on what earrings, necklace or brooch/headwear/rings/handbag to get either. Don't even get me started on makeup.

Blast being a girl sucks sometimes. Insta-wardrobe needs to be invented and soon. I need to go read more comics and play some first person shooters before my female hormones kick in completely.

iPhone music

I only got my iPhone recently and am loving it. I like the apps, the games, the ease of how I can contact people who pretty much don't want to be contacted but that's how life is these days. Welcome to the Social Networking generation. Can't text you? I'll IM you on assorted messengers, post a wall post on your Facebook, @ reply you on Twitter and send you a dirty message on Words with Friends. Bitch. That's worth a few points actually..

I also like how I can play music on my iPhone and with my sleeping disorder it comes quite in handy in the middle of the night to sooth my savage thinking brain. So I have settled on playing music only on my iPhone and put the iPod and mini mp3 players away. That is.. until I realized all the notifications, alerts, text messages and ringtones that are now interupting my favorite songs. Noooo. Stop calling me. Can't you hear that Foo Fighters are telling me about monkey wrenches? Seriously Mum don't call me when I'm in a Motley Crue marathon. Argh. I might just have to bring my iPod out of retirement (no dust has settled yet) and use that instead. I can't stand my songs being cut short or that DODELLIDOOOO MESSAGE tone I get constantly. Pfft having friends bites sometimes.

Other things I dislike about mobile phones at the moment:

1. Teens who play their shitty music on public transport through their phone speakers. Keep your crappy doof doof music to yourself. My Muppet Show theme ringtone beats your rap any day of the week.

2. People who talk loudly on their phones. It's called INSIDE VOICE (irony how I wrote that in caps, get it?)

3. The price of apps that I really want. $12.99 for BeeJive which is just a multi IM messenger? There are free MSN apps but they're crap. Pfft.

4. How addictive game apps are. I have all the Angry Birds. All. Of. Them.

5. How I now ignore people around me even more. No wait. I don't hate that. I like it.

6. How people assume I have no interest when I check my phone. No. Keep talking about your child's toilet training adventures. I'm just going to flick through my Instagram feed and like all the cat pictures.

7. How when my phone is not recieving any messages and I feel so loney. So rowwwnnreeyyy. Kidding. I'm awesome.

Also can Justin Bieber please get off my song list? How'd you get in there? Were you preloaded.. *checks* I think this qualifys as number 8.

I did a wee bit of drinking on Saturday night after a bad afternoon. I honestly just needed to stop thinking and feeling any kind of emotion.

I tried some Creaming soda flavoured vodka thing and the new Vodka Cruiser Electric pink flavoured drinks. Yes I drink girly drinks. I'm a girl remember? The Electric pink vodka smelt lovely but I might like to point out was 37% alcohol and should NOT be drunk straight. Shot glass or no. It's like your tastebuds are exploding with fireworks (not good) and is guaranteed to make you see your dinner (also not good). I saw mine and it wasn't pretty. Pizza never comes out the same way.

Moral of short story: Drinking, while giving you the ability to not think about useless things like your shopping list for the next week or the cobwebs behind the fridge you need to clean, WILL make you do stupid and quite hilarious things. I think the most I got up to was singing and air drumming in the car to Cold Chisel. Yes. I became a bogan for a few hours.

Sometimes before and after shots are really amazing and make me want to try that exercise/diet thing that everyone is always raving about but the one above made me laugh. Not only is it obviously NOT the same guy.. it's also obviously, atleast somewhat, photoshopped.

I mean, if you had muscles that big that your hands look super small you would look weird and alien like. No woman would want to be with you and if you can barely reach your own *ahem* manly parts then I think you have a real problem. Put down the weights and protein shakes and pick up a chocolate bar.
